Before I start telling you about this tutorial, I would like to give brief introduction about me. I am Smruti, self taught artist. I like to do craft, make beautiful things by recycling the waste. Whenever I see waste things around me, I start imagining something creative to make hat thing the most beautiful one. No matter how creative you are, but sometimes you need inspiration in some period of time. My blog is about home decorating ideas, home renovating ideas and home makeover. CDs are recyclable, but you can’t just throw them into bin. Do you have waste CDs? It can be converted into the beautiful art piece using some creative ideas which will bring out the hidden artist in you.

Most of us have a lot of waste CD‘s at our home. Have you ever thought we can make something out of those waste CD’s? People who are crafty will never throw the things in garbage by thinking something is at the end of its lifespan. And if you think so, then you must have o find a way to manage it. Because Waste is not waste until we waste it!

So I am here with amazing tutorials to help you people who are not crafty but love to do something creative and looking for good ideas. There are many things around us that we always think to discard like plastic bottles, carton boxes, CD’s etc. We can use those things to create a wonderful craft with our imagination and creativity. Now you don’t need to get rid of waste and old CDs at your home. I have a very attractive craft that will beautify your living rooms ceiling.

When someone enters to your house, the first thing they noticed is ceiling because it offers clear view of the room. There are many things which are important for ceiling such as color, lights, texture etc. But hanging a lamp on ceiling will add extra beauty to your space.

Home décor ideas from waste material. DIY Best out of waste CDs craft.

Let’s take a look what material I have used:

Step 1

Before you start the project get ready with material. CDs, glue, pieces of paper, balloon, scissor, water.

Step 2:

To stick paper pieces on balloon we need mixture of glue and water. Take fevicol and water and mix them properly.

Step 3:

 To make a lamp shape we need a balloon. Blow the balloon. Dip pieces of paper in mixer of glue & water and start pasting on balloon.

Step 4:

Now we have to make a thick layer of paper to make a lamp strong. Start pasting the pieces of paper on balloon to make a thick layer. I have pasted almost 3 to 4 layers on balloon.

Step 5:

Let it dry completely. It will take almost 10 hours to dry. I just kept it under the fan overnight.

Step 6:

I just kept under the fan overnight. It is dried completely now. Make sure it is dry and then remove balloon.

Step 7:

Make a big circle at bottom and small circle on top side and cut properly.

Step 8:

Now the very important step is to make the base of the lamp strong. To make it strong, cover the lamp with the paint. I have used white emulsion paint to cover the lamp. Apply two coats and let it dry completely. If you don’t have white emulsion paint you can use distemper paint also. Or you can just apply plaster of paris paste over the lamp. Plaster of paris dries easily. How to make plaster of paris mixture?- Take 2 part of plaster of paris and one part of water and add small quantity of fevicol in it. Mix all the ingredients nicely and apply it on lamp. Apply two coats and let it dry completely.

Step 9:

CDs are hard and you might feel that you can’t cut it easily. You need strong and good quality scissor to cut the CDs. Before you start cutting the CDs soak CDS in water for at least 10 minutes. Cut CDS in small pieces and stick it on lamp with glue. Cover the lamp completely with CDs.

Step 10:

Attach metal ring. Adjust hanging height. Attach wire and bulb. Now your disco lamp is ready.
In this way you can use waste CDs to make a beautiful disco lamp and decorate your home.
